“I’ve trained and dieted hard all week, I deserve a cheat day/meal/weekend.”
Does this sound familiar?
The quote above is one of the key reasons why a lot of people don’t reach their fat-loss goals.
As we all should know by now, to lose body fat you MUST create a calorie deficit, this can be achieved through diet and/or exercise. Most people don’t have a problem staying on track throughout the week, but when the clock strikes 5pm on Friday a lot of people see that as a ‘finish line’ and adopt the mentality of “I made it to Friday, time to celebrate” and this is the attitude that sabotages so many peoples fat loss efforts week after week.
If your diet during the week is ultra ‘clean’ then making it to Friday probably does feel like an achievement, but with an ultra ‘clean’ diet you are far more likely to binge throughout the weekend. After five days of plain chicken, brown rice and broccoli …donuts and pizza start to look so much more appealing!
If you’re eating boring food that you don’t enjoy the taste of all week, of course your mouth is going to start watering and your willpower is going to go out the window the second you see something appetising.
Luckily there’s a simple solution to this common problem… Don’t be so restrictive Monday-Friday, it is possible to lose fat without eating chicken, brown rice and broccoli out of manky tupperware boxes day after day. You can still enjoy all your favourite foods throughout the week whilst remaining in a calorie deficit, by doing this you will be less susceptible to overindulging at the weekend, as you haven’t been deprived of foods you enjoy throughout the week, which will inevitably make staying on track throughout the weekend easier and the likelihood of you reaching your fat-loss goal higher.
If you’d like more information about how you can still eat all your favourite foods whilst losing weight every week then feel free to send an email to our Head Trainer, Philip Gonçalves (email@example.com) with subject title ‘online coaching’, he will be accepting new online clients from November 1st.
Enjoy your weekend and make sure it takes you closer to your goals, not further away.
